Developing Local Talent

Brentford FC Community Sports Trust’s Football Development Centre (FDC) offers talented young players and those with potential, an opportunity to receive a high quality football education experience, enabling them to improve in a player-centred environment.

The programme is self-sustaining through participant fees and has been in operation for over 15 years.

Players ranging from age 5 up to 16 (school year’s 1 to 11) attend the weekly training sessions at our venues in Southall and Twickenham. Goalkeeper’s are catered for with specialist coaching staff taking sessions for them.

Independently run, our players are recruited by our coaching staff from across all aspects of the Trust’s delivery projects including local schools, Saturday clubs, social inclusion sessions and football development holiday programmes.

Twice yearly Open Trials (October and Easter) also offer players who are not normally involved with the Trust the chance to be assessed for the FDC. These are promoted via our website so please keep an eye out for them or email fdc@brentfordfccst.com to register interest.

Those selected are invited for an initial 6 week assessment period.

The FDC includes term-time training in the evening and a structured development match programme against other professional club’s Community Sports Trust’s such as Coventry City, Oxford United, MK Dons and Wycombe Wanderers. Matches take place during the holiday periods so do not cut across participants ‘grassroots football’ commitments.

It is a great opportunity to represent the club in matches.

FDC sessions are delivered at 2 development centres over 3 nights per week. In excess of 225 boys currently attend the programme, which runs from September to July.

CRITERIA:

Player’s must reside in one of the following areas: Borough of Hounslow, Ealing, Richmond, Hillingdon and Spelthorne. We cannot consider players outside of these areas.

Players are recruited from sessions run by Brentford FC Community Sports Trust.

Twice a year there are Open Trials for players who live in the above areas mentioned.

Players must be in school year’s 1 to 11. However, for our Easter Open Trial in each season, year 11 players are not trialled as this programme finishes for them in July of the season.

The Football Development Centre programme is strictly by invitation only and is not an open programme.

Please note that we cannot accept players who are above School Year 11.

Professional Football Agents should contact Brentford FC (www.brentfordfc.co.uk) directly if they wish to showcase players over the age of 16.
