Our Aim
'To develop innovative and creative learning opportunities that maximise children and young people’s self belief, impacting on them as committed life-long learners.’
What is the GPLZ?
Griffin Park Learning Zone (GPLZ) is a Study Support Centre situated within Brentford Football Club that concentrates on raising attainment for young people between the ages of 8–19years using the football stadium, professional football players and Brentford Football Club staff.
The Brentford FC Players Lounge converts into an ICT and Learning Suite during the week focusing upon using the unique sports environment and creative projects to motivate and inspire young people to learn. Within GPLZ we are able to allow young people the freedom to be creative, working independently or in groups at their own pace. The young people benefit from the ethos, teaching (low pupil to staff ratio) and environment we offer and from working with teachers and other adults such as football coaches, players and Brentford FC staff.
We have built an excellent reputation through working closely with Hounslow Primary and Secondary Schools. Since inception in 2004, thousands of young people have visited the GPLZ and benefited from improving their skills, motivation and self-esteem. The young people are able to take these new skills back into their school environment and build upon them.
GPLZ Programmes
We maximise our unique sporting environment, staff and resources and have developed a series of exciting programmes for Primary and Secondary Schools. We work closely with schools to identify young people who are at risk of underachieving and would benefit most from attending GPLZ.
