Brentford players head out this week for Community Takeover

Players from Brentford’s B Team are taking part in a ‘Community Takeover’ this week in the lead up to their game with Southampton at Griffin Park.

The match, which will take place at Griffin Park, will see the B-Team side play against Southampton’s under 23s.

In conjunction with Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, Kevin O’Connor’s side are visiting schools and events all this week to encourage children to get involved in activities and sports, as well as promoting the game this time next week.

Monday saw six players attend events across Hounslow, Ali Coote and Joe Hardy getting involved in football at Twickenham and at The Trust’s Development Centre. Meanwhile Jonny Mitchell and Luka Racic were at Smallberry Green in Isleworth to talk to students, with Nikolaj Kirk and Charlie Oliver attending The Orchard Primary.

Tuesday was another successful day for the community takeover as eight players were out engaging local youngsters on behalf of Brentford FC. Henrik Johansson and Matej Majka both went to after school sessions at The Mall School, Canice Carroll and Luka Racic also helped at a football session with Holy Trinity School.

In the evening, Reece Cole and Jarvis Edobor took part in an extra-curricular night at Northolt High School, while back at the Development Centre Jonny Mitchell and Cole Dasilva were helping out with a girls’ football session.

Yesterday, Wednesday 17 October, the boys were out again in the local area to encourage the next generation of Brentford fans. Henrik Johansson and Matej Majka have already been talking to youngsters this morning, with eight more squad members involved later today. Patrik Gunnarsson, David Titov, Simon Andersson, Kolbeinn Finnsson and Jan Zamburek are heading to schools like Chase Bridge, Mount Carmel and William Perkin High to run football sessions later on this afternoon.

Thursday and Friday are just as packed with activities and visits for the Brentford boys. Keep up to date with all their work in the community on our social media accounts.

Kick off for the Brentford B Team fixture is at 6pm on Friday 26 October at Griffin Park. No need to book, just turn up.
