What is the Brentford Challenge?

The Brentford Challenge comprises of a variety of sports activities. The event kicks off with a competitive 5k-trail run. Participants in the competitive run will be up first followed by the family 5k fun run/walk that is suitable for all ages and abilities.

Both runs follow the same route and take place in the stunning grounds of Syon Park. A large section of the 5km route makes its way through the Duke of Northumberland’s private gardens, which are normally closed to the public.

The routes are a mixture of trail, path, meadow and parkland. A suitable pair of running/trail shoes should be worn, as there are some stretches that pass over rough ground and open meadow!

To compliment the day’s main events, we will be hosting our youth football tournament and a variety of FREE to participate in sports activities for adults and children including:

- FastBall Challenge in our speed-cage: Will you be the FastBall challenge winner?
- Small-sided high tempo soccer in our Inflatable football pitch.
- *Soccercise: A football themed workout for women of all levels of fitness.
- *Boxercise: Fun exercise class themed with the training concepts used by boxers.

Other sports include frisbee golf, dodgeball, street soccer challenge, rounder’s, and spinning classes.

After all that you can relax on the freshly cut lawns of Syon Park and enjoy the music and refreshments.

An introduction to Stand up Paddleboarding (SUP)

All participants have  the opportunity to try Stand up Paddle-Boarding at Brentford Lock. Participants must be a minimum of 8 years old. No upper age limits apply.

Stand up paddleboarding is one of the fastest growing adventure sports. The basics are easy to learn with people able to stand up and paddle relatively quickly. SUP can be enjoyed by individuals, groups and families. Larger boards enable parents to take a small child on board safely whilst older children can paddle their own.

Don’t worry if you have never tried stand up paddleboarding, as Active 360, London’s largest provider of SUP activities, will be providing training and guidance.
