Final chance to sign up for The Brentford Challenge

Local residents are encouraged to lace-up their running shoes and take part in Brentford’s biggest sports participation and fundraising event

The event, which will take place on Sunday 24 June at Syon Park, offers an array of multi-sports activities for all the family, before a screening of the England v Panama World Cup match on the terrace of The Hilton Syon Park.

Organised in partnership with Brentford Lock West, The Brentford Challenge is offering a 10k run, 5k run, 10k and 5k Corporate Challenge (for teams of four representing their business), a primary school challenge for local schools and 1k children’s race.

This year marks a special mental health event: a 5k mental health awareness walk in partnership with West London Mental Health Trust. The walk – coined a 5k ‘Walk & Talk’ – aims to tackle the stigma around mental health and encourage more people to get active.

Also on offer is free taster sessions in Pilates, football, frisbee golf and circuit training – situated at the event’s vibrant sports and health village.

For water lovers, adults and children can take part in an exciting paddleboarding lesson, which is opposite Brentford Lock West offices.

Michael Auger, Regional Director for Brentford Lock West, said:

“We are really excited about the Brentford Challenge this year. The day’s events have been opened up to incorporate a wide range of activities, with something for everyone to get involved in. Since we first began sponsoring this event back in 2012 we have seen it grow from strength to strength.

“It offers the people of Brentford an opportunity to really get active and to get out and enjoy some of the superb facilities that this part of London has on offer – the Grand Union Canal, impressive venues such as Syon Park and numerous parks and green open spaces.”
