Street Games

Streetgames

StreetGames, with a link to Sport England, is a dedicated multisports and positive activities project, aimed to develop sport with disadvantaged communities and making sport accessible to young people regardless of their social circumstances. StreetGames projects aim to help individuals develop their sports and leadership skills through participation and volunteering, fulfil their ambitions and help bring communities closer together via sport.

Young people aged 10 - 19 are welcome to attend the free weekly sessions and qualified BFCCST coaches deliver positive activity in a safe and structured environment. Programmes are bespoke, and are created in conjunction with a range of local partners and funders.

In Richmond due to the existing Kickz social inclusion programme being so successful at Ham Close, and being only just over 1/2 mile away, a partnership was made in May 2010 with the Cambrian Community Centre to deliver weekly sessions for young people locally and from the Queen's Road Estate. Volunteers will also be targeted from within the programme, and offered chances to help out and become role models for their project.

The success of Lonsdale Kickz has lead to a strong relationship with Mortlake Community Association, who have funded since September 2010 an under 12s Mortlake Streetgames multisport programme during the Junior Youth Club on Fridays at Powerstation youth club.

Whitton StreetGames is a new term time programme that will be delivered alongside the local youth work team from the area. Funded by the Richmond Local Authourity, the programme, based at Whitton Sports Centre will concentrate on a strong mix of multisports delivery, workshops and engaging with local young people.

Young people are registered for free with the programmes. Rewards for positive behaviour and regular attendance include BFC prizes, signed shirts, access to off estate trips, tournaments, and more!!
