Girls Development Programme & Brentford Women's FC

Brentford FC Community Sports Trust has developed a programme of activities designed to ensure young female footballers have access to quality football.  The girls programme is extremely inclusive and appealing to all, as participants from a wide range of backgrounds and ethnicities have proven.

We aim to develop our girls programme further so that we can achieve our goal of establishing a Centre of Excellence.  58 girls only sessions were delivered in the last quarter alone reaching an overall number of 251 young females, 112 of which were from Black and Ethnic Minority groups.

The Women's and Girl's teams train using the facilities provided at Lampton School in central Hounslow, west London every Thursday evening.  There are currently teams at the u12, u13, u14 and u18 levels competing in the Middlesex County League as well as a Ladies Team.

The girls receive coaching from F.A. qualified coaches including Liz Foster and Amy Crook who are both qualified with Level 2 Football Coaching certificates.

Futsal and Football Development Centre

In January of 2007, the Brentford FC Community Sports Trust Girls Futsal and Football Development Centre opened its doors at Featherstone Sports Centre to girls u12.  The Centre was designed to provide promising players with the chance to improve their skills.  The players were carefully selected via trials and coach recommendations.  Success was achieved at the F.A. National Junior Futsal Finals 2007 in Sheffield with the girls' finishing runners-up to Sheffield.

The Girls Development Centre is already expanding.  It has now grown to include two nights coaching two different age groups (u11/u12 and u14/u15).  Talent identification is continuous as new players are being recruited to attend training with the aim of making the F.A. National Junior Futsal Finals 2008.  A new partnership with Middlesex Football Association has enabled the partnership to coach six local primary schools with the intent of having them participate in a new Fustal League.

Tournaments throughout the year offer opportunities for girls to represent their school or borough via events organised by the Trust.  Tournaments such as the Richmond mini-games, the Football League Community Cup and the London Youth Games ensure that young women have every chance to participate in competitive football.

Brentford Women's and Girl's Football Club (Est. 1991)

The Brentford Women and Girls Football Club has been competing for 17 years.  It originally started out as a Girl's u14 team, but due to the hard work and efforts of Chairman Roger Crook and Team Coordinator and Welfare Officer Amy Crook, a women and girls football club has been created that offers opportunities and development routes to female footballers.  Achieving the Charter Standard in 2004 (an award given to clubs committed to delivering quality facilities, administration and training for players as part of the grass roots revolution) the club is viewed as a model of good practice, also having won the award of Most Competently Administered Club in 2001.

The senior team achieved promotion again in 2006/07 and is now competing in Division I of the London and South East League.  With teams at u12, u13, u14 and u18 levels competing in the Middlesex County League, the infrastructure is now in place for female players of all ages to play competitive football on a regular basis.

Ladies' Day

The Brentford Football Club and the Trust are committed to seeing the women's game flourish as they are very supportive of women's football.  A Ladies Day is held every year, celebrating and promoting women and girls football.  The event includes free tickets for all female spectators, exhibition matches and information on our girls and women's football programme.
