We Host an Exciting Girls’ Football Festival

A couple of weeks ago, we hosted an exciting Girls’ Football Festival in partnership with the Premier League. The event, which was held at Uxbridge High School’s indoor dome, saw more than 70 girls from 7 local schools take part.

The festival was part of the Trust’s wider initiative that is encouraging more girls to start playing football. The initiative is in line with The FA’s Gameplan for Growth, with the target of doubling girls’ participation in the sport by 2020. The strategy for women’s and girls’ football at grassroots level includes initiatives alongside SSE Wildcats, such as FA Girls’ Football Week and our Premier League Kicks programme.

Girls in year 7-8, and who took part in the festival, have benefited from our 30-week girls’ coaching programme.

Edith Johnston, a participant from Grey Court School, said:

“We are really happy to be able to play in the festival today and it has been a fun day playing so many matches”.
