Brentford FC Community Sports Trust was crowned ‘Best Charity of the Year’ at Hounslow Business Awards last week. The prestigious awards ceremony, held at Hilton Syon Park and run by Hounslow Chamber of Commerce, recognises the achievements of local businesses and charities across the borough of Hounslow. Now in its sixth year, the event brought together businesses such as Chiswick Business Park, Clayton Hotel and Hearing Well for a night that celebrated a number of business accolades.

Brentford FC Community Sports Trust was recognised for its longstanding community work in the borough – inspiring thousands of young people through its sports and education initiatives. Its Short Breaks project, commissioned by Hounslow Council and run in Osterley, offers an array of sporting activities for children with disabilities.

Lee Doyle, Chief Executive of Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, said:

‘We were delighted to be recognised as Charity of the Year at the Hounslow Business Awards. The award highlights our commitment to improving lives through sport in the borough.

“Our community work in Hounslow spans more than thirty years, and we continue to deliver a multitude of projects for all ages. As we begin to deliver Hounslow’s Youth Service and move to our new stadium in 2020, we are committed to taking the community with us on this exciting new journey.”

And Hounslow Business Awards was not the only event that recognised the Trust’s vital community work that night. Brentford FC Community Sports Trust was also named runners-

up for ‘Community Project of the Year’ at the London Football Awards.  The Trust’s Ambassadors project has seen Brentford players promote community projects they feel most passionate about – including tackling the stigma around mental health and raising awareness of LGBT+ equality in football. Staff members from Brentford FC and Brentford FC Community Sports Trust also attended Kick It Out’s 25th Anniversary Dinner at Stamford Bridge – celebrating the important milestones in making football more inclusive.
