Check out Leah’s match report from our Community Takeover
Brentford’s match against Blackburn Rovers was dedicated to the local community and young people played a special role. The Club’s first ever Community Takeover Match took place as The Bees beat Blackburn 5-2 on Saturday, 2 February, and children from Brentford FC Community Sports Trust’s projects had important matchday roles. Youngsters took over as Head Coach, Commercial Manager, Club Photographer and Club Shop Manager among many other roles and got involved with a matchday.
Leah Hunt took over as Head of Communications on the day. Leah was part of an education project – at Griffin Park Learning Zone – that supports pupils with their confidence and self-esteem. She joined journalists in the press box to write a match report that can be seen below.
At the start of the game within 3 minutes Blackburn scored and then after 6 minutes Blackburn scored again, which made it seem like Brentford were going to lose. But then before half time Brentfords player Benrahma Scored a goal.
Aftet half time were scoring like they had a good talk from the manager Thomas Frank. Brentford scored another 4 goals. The players who scored were Watkins 2, Maupay and Canos. Blackburn could not score again!. Brentford scored 5 and Blackburn 2 that made the community take over even cooler! Everytime Brentford scored the crowd got louder each time. Of course they were proud if Brentfords great win. The players delivered a great performance, a performance to remember.
I interviewed the manager and the mini head coach. I found it so exciting because there were cameras everywhere.
