Brentford FC Community Sports Trust is looking for casual youth mentors to join our workforce and no prior experience in the sector is required.
Who Can Be A Mentor?
Anyone can be a mentor!
We are looking for personable and committed individuals who can work with young people with challenging backgrounds, providing personalised support, bespoke activity and focused mentoring. You must be able to build rapport with young people and have a belief that with the right tools and support all young people will achieve their potential.
Programmes You Will Work Across
The Casual Youth Mentor role will support some of the following programmes;
Brighter Futures - weekly 1:1 sessions for children & young people in care, at the edge of care and their families. Supporting with managing challenging behaviours, social, and emotional needs and identifying strategies to help move forward.
Premier League Changing Directions & Turnaround Programmes – referrals from Schools and Youth Justice Services (YJS) who attend weekly 1:1 mentoring sessions to raise aspirations, and divert away from risk-taking or criminal behaviour.
Focus 30 – intervention to support secondary students struggling to manage their own behaviour in school.
Qualities of a Youth Mentor
Organised and work with attention to detail
Empathic and able to understand the needs of young people with complex backgrounds and needs
Builds positive relationships easily, especially with young people
Believe all young people can achieve their potential and show a commitment to working with those who face barriers and challenges
Understand the value of mentoring and positive role models
