On 14 June, Brentford FC Community Sports Trust held its inaugural Play at the Gtech event, a landmark day celebrating community spirit and football. The event saw 120 players from 15 teams - representing partners, local businesses, and charities - come together for the inaugural tournament.

Over £10,000 was raised, with all proceeds directly supporting the impactful initiatives delivered by the Trust throughout the year.

A Premier League Experience

For the players, it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to step onto the same pitch used by Brentford FC in the Premier League. Teams participated in a lively round-robin format, showcasing skill, determination, and a shared love for the game.

The day culminated in victory for Harry’s 8 FC, who claimed the winner’s trophy after a hard-fought tournament. The spirit of fair play was epitomised by Hey Jude FC, who were awarded the Fair Play Award for their sportsmanship and positivity.

The Very Best Of Our Community

Reflecting on the success of the day, Tomas Abreu, Head of Marketing, Fundraising, and Partnerships at Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, expressed his gratitude:

“The tournament showcased the very best of our community uniting to play football and enjoy competing, but also help to fundraise and give back. The funds raised will help to support initiatives the Trust delivers locally and none of this would have been possible without the players on the day.

I would like to thank Brentford FC for kindly donating the stadium and pitch to hold the tournament, and also thank all the staff who supported with the operations and running of the tournament.

Congratulations to all who took part, it was great to see so many different organisations across the Charity Sector coming together to compete. We look forward to welcoming everyone back next year.”

The Play at the Gtech event encapsulated the ethos of the Trust, bringing people together to celebrate football and community while driving meaningful impact through fundraising.
