Disability Awareness Month runs from mid-November to mid-December. This is an annual event creating a platform to promote disabled people’s rights and highlight their struggle for equality and human rights.

It is a time to reflect on the progress made in disability rights and to consider what more can be done to support disability equality today. Within the Trust, this month also offers an opportunity to showcase the growth of our Disability Department and the broad range of weekly activity sessions being delivered:

  • Hounslow Short Breaks

  • On the Ball

  • Ealing SEND Multi-Sports

  • Ealing Adult Inclusive Multi-Sports

  • Inclusive College Football League

  • Bee Inclusive football session

  • Middlesex FA Disability Youth League

These sessions provide a safe, welcoming environment where disabled participants can engage, connect, and thrive through inclusive sport.

Improving Accessibility

During October 2025 alone, our programmes engaged with 263 participants across 75 sessions. This reflects our strengthened community engagement, improved accessibility, and enhanced participant confidence across our disability provision.

Creating A Safe And Inclusive Environment

Chris Tribe, Disability Projects Manager, reflected on Disability Awareness Month:Brentford FC Community Sports Trust prides itself on placing inclusivity at the heart of all of its programmes and sessions, and this is especially prominent across our Disability Department. We recognise the importance of creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all of our participants, where everyone feels empowered to be themselves with no judgement from others, regardless of the nature of their disability.”

As we move into 2026, the Trust is excited to continue building momentum with a range of new and returning initiatives, including:

  • Our second disability-specific Work Experience cohort

  • The second AccessAbility Cup, in partnership with Special Olympics

  • VI/Blind Football sessions in partnership with British Blind Sport

  • Our second England Para Talent Day

  • SEND School Football Festivals

  • SEND girls’ multi-sport school festivals

  • All Ability Bees Soccer School Camps during school holidays

  • Plus, the ongoing delivery of our existing sessions

Disability Awareness Month is not just about recognition; it’s about action. Together, we can continue to break down barriers, celebrate achievements, and create a society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
