Steven brings decades of experience, deep family roots in west London and a lifelong connection with Brentford FC.
Steven trained and worked as a Mental Health nurse for more than 30 years in the NHS, specialising in criminal justice psychiatry. His service includes becoming the first community crisis intervention nurse in Hounslow at West Middlesex Hospital in 1996, alongside roles at Ealing Hospital and HMP and Young Offending Institution Feltham.
Today, Steven supports nurses across the health service in his role with the Royal College of Nursing, where he specialises in wellbeing and staff advocacy.
Supporting Brentford Since The 1970s
His relationship with Brentford began as a supporter in the 1970s, attending matches at Griffin Park with his father and brother. His memories track the club’s rise through the decades, including the 7–2 victory against Hull City in 1979, the famous promotion-winning campaign of 1991–92 and the emotional celebration of 2014.
Steven has been involved in kit sponsorship for many years, and his family has built personal relationships with several players, including a long association with Rico Henry. Brentford runs in the Skinner family, with multiple season tickets, memberships and regular away trips, despite the family now being split between Oxford, Cambridge and Suffolk.
Creating Positive Change
Steven’s passion for community mirrors his professional commitments. Mental health support, inclusion, wellbeing, and access to sport are areas that matter deeply to him. He believes in the role sport can play in improving lives, whether through local provision, school outreach or supporting long-term conditions. His pride for Brentford’s work stretches beyond matchdays. He feels now is an extraordinary time to support the club and is thrilled to play a role in helping the Community Sports Trust create positive change.
