Josh Dasilva has been named Brentford’s Professional Footballers’ Association Community Champion 2024/25, recognising his positive engagement in the community.
Having joined the Bees in 2018, Dasilva has become a central figure in the club's community outreach, and this season found out his blood type as part of the Trust's award-winning Bee A Hero campaign.
"We're trying to get people on board," he said. "We know how much it means to the fans, what we do for them and what they can do for us.
"Seeing the love they have for football and community, the fact we've been able to have this journey together and live this dream we all have, it's nice."
Dasilva was in attendance at the Fan Hive ahead of Thomas Frank's side's 4-3 win over Ipswich Town in October 2024 to find out his blood type as part of the Bee A Hero initiative. Aimed at addressing a local, regional and national need for more blood donors, Bee A Hero also highlights the growing demand for better-matched blood to treat disorders such as sickle cell.
"I didn't realise how painful having sickle cell could be," Dasilva explained. "If people do have the time to give blood, you're actually saving someone's life. It opened my eyes to a lot."
Reflecting on the club's connection with the fans and the community, Dasilva expressed his pride in being able to give back.
"I was once a young kid, and having the dream to be able to speak to footballers and interact with them was big for me back then, so I just try and do my bit to help in the community. I'm grateful that the Club put themselves in the position to help communities."
