Brentford FC Community Sports Trust offers a wide variety of sporting activities that are accessible and inclusive to people of all ages and abilities. These sessions have been delivered in partnership with Action-attainment for over 20 years, and are essential to helping neurodiverse children and adults overcome the obstacles that prevent families from enjoying sports.

Together, the Trust and Action Attainment have helped over 1,000 families during the last 10 years, teaching skills which will last a lifetime. We recognise that neurodiverse children often struggle to interact with their peers, but, we use sport to help them communicate better.

On the Ball

On the Ball is the flagship programme delivered in partnership with the Trust and Action-attainment. Encouraging children to have fun, make friends and learn how to play their part in a team. On the Ball is a way into sport for neurodiverse children of all abilities.

It’s also a life-changing opportunity for parents to spend time with their children and understand what helps them to learn and be included. Sessions are supported by therapists and use strategies that support learning on and off the pitch.

Sam Silver, CEO and Founder of Action-attainment comments, “It’s been an immense journey (with Brentford) and over the years we’ve worked with hundreds of children, schools and other community groups to try and explain that sometimes it’s a simple adjustment to how we speak or how we run a session that can make the difference between exclusion and inclusion for a child and their family.

“If we can help the family and child to understand inclusion strategies through sport, we can empower them for life. For me, the partnership with Action-attainment and Brentford through On the Ball is providing an amazing gift to hundreds of children.”

We are always looking for new members to join our On the Ball sessions, which take place every Saturday morning at Palewell Park in Richmond. If you would like to register your interest please click here.

Go the Distance

This year we are calling on fundraisers to saddle up and join over 100 riders taking part in RideLondon in support of Brentford FC Community Sports Trust and Action Attainment.

There are limited places available and riders have the choice whether to cycle 100 miles, 60 miles or 30m miles. Funds raised will be helping to support neurodiverse young people and adults.

Riders will be provided with a unique cycling jersey and have access to a wide range of Brentford FC prizes and experiences.

Impactful support programme

Chris Tribe, Disability Projects Manager at Brentford FC Community Sports Trust adds, “Our partnership with Action-attainment has grown and developed immeasurably since it started 20 years ago. On the Ball is one of our largest Disability Programmes at the Trust, and highlights the power of working with partners and experts to deliver a really impactful support programme for the families that take part.

“Neurodiversity Awareness week gives us a chance to reflect on and celebrate the work that we do, and also helps to motivate us to continue striving to increase and improve the scope of our projects.”
