Brentford FC Community Sports Trust (BFCCST) has announced the appointment of Jake Martens as its new Independent Non-Executive Director (INED) for the trading company BFCCST Trading Limited, linked to the new Clubhouse Café in Gunnersbury Park.

Having moved to London 12 years go from Auckland, New Zealand, Jake brings a wealth of experience to the Trust with a career working across partnerships in football with a hybrid of commercial and purpose experience.

Commercial and Football Experience

In addition to his current role as Head of Commercial Planning at Brentford Football Club, Jake had previously delivered Prostate Cancer UK’s strategy in football through their partnerships with the English Football League (EFL), League Managers Association (LMA), and Ambassador relationships that included Jeff Stelling on Soccer Saturday.

This was prior to Jake spending over five years at Tottenham Hotspur managing their principal partners, including the delivery of global and community purpose-led campaigns with a variety of brands. These roles followed his first experience in football with Charlton Athletic and their Community Trust, giving first-hand experience of how Clubs and their Community Sports Trusts work in their local areas.

Positive and Progressive Impact

Commenting on his new role, Jake said, “Since joining Brentford Football Club 18-months ago, it was clear very early to see the positive and progressive impact Brentford FC Community Sports Trust has on the local community. In particular, the Clubhouse Cafe is such an innovative initiative that brings together so many touch points of the Trust’s work, so it’s a real honour to be involved and help progress its development.”

Jake joins Jonathon Swaine as the second INED for the trading company BFCCST Trading Limited, with Jonathon having joined in January 2026.
